Social Media Assistant (SMA)

The Volunteer Social Media Assistant will help develop and implement a social media strategy to increase overall reach and brand awareness. He/she will use social media outlets to promote active IAPMD campaigns, engage the public, and increase donations and online presence. They will directly contribute to increasing IAPMD’s capacity to reach our community and increase awareness of our mission. Furthermore, SMAs will work with the Social Media Coordinator to communicate progress on campaigns, activations, events, studies, and more on our social media platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Social Media Assistant will:

  • Seek out and post regular updates to IAPMD’s social media outlets, including news articles, blog posts, press releases, fundraising appeals, organization updates, goals met, and other promotional items (merchandise)

  • Monitor activity and user interactions for all social media outlets and interact with them

  • Help identify key online channels for IAPMD to establish a presence

  • Help develop a social media strategy to support the organization’s campaigns and fundraising activities and establish targets for increasing online reach

  • Adapt general IAPMD campaign messaging for the different platforms

  • Work alongside the Social Media Coordinator and Executive Director to develop plans, ideas, and images.


  • Experience using key social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube etc) with a keen interest of Twitter

  • Experience of using Hootsuite and Canva preferable (or willingness to learn)

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail

  • Outgoing, proactive, enthusiastic and creative

  • Works well independently and as part of a team

  • Be creative and an ‘ideas’ person

  • Have a keen interest in women’s health issues

  • Have knowledge/understanding of the challenges faces by PMDD/PME sufferers

Time Period

  • The position requires a minimum 6-month commitment for approximately of 3-4 hours per week, which can be completed remotely (and fitted around your cycle if you are a sufferer yourself)
