House Passes Measure to Repeal and Replace the Affordable Care Act

What does today's healthcare vote mean for women with PMDD in the United States? What this means exactly is uncertain. We share the same concerns as many regarding access to women's care, mental health care, and the effect this bill may have on so-called "pre-existing conditions".

The International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) stands with The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, NAMI, Mental Health America, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Planned Parenthood in opposition to this bill or any bill that puts access to health care at risk.

Despite the passage of the bill in the House, the Affordable Care Act will remain in place — at least for now. Also remember, this bill must now pass the Senate so there is time to make your voice heard.

We know that the Affordable Care Act isn't perfect and there is much work to be done to improve access to affordable and equal care in the United States. Repealing the ACA, however, will leave many groups at risk for denial of coverage and higher cost for treatment.

We will do our very best to post information on how this repeal will impact those with PMDD in the United States. We know these times can be stressful and supplementary care will be more important than ever! IAPMD will continue to advocate for parity in mental health and women's care as well as provide no-cost peer support to those who need it regardless of geographic location or ability to pay.
