Millie Flemington-Clare owns a disabled-owned makeup brand, and knows the frustrations of not being heard or seen by the media.

As a disabled woman I support and stand with all those who are living with rare conditions and want to abolish the stigma associated with them. The needs of patients must be brought into the 21st century.

Keep On Punching - The Power Of Mindset

Millie didn’t choose Cystinosis, but no matter what it has thrown at her, she has chosen to fight it with all she has. Her positive mindset and dogged determination have kept the light shining, even on her darkest days, and helped drive her forward to fulfill any goal she sets.

Millie is a young woman living with a very rare genetic condition called Cystinosis. It means she has to take around 45 medications every day, alongside various surgeries, to keep her kidneys functioning. Defying the odds, she told us that she was determined to thrive and not just survive.

Despite having a really rough time with her health, including a failed kidney transplant that meant she needed three months away from studies, Millie has refused to quit her degree.

With her amazing tenacity, she’s about to commence on her third and final year of a BA in Digital Marketing at Portsmouth University.

Millie’s story proves that there’s power in never giving up. That we are meant to thrive, not just survive.

“As a woman who has been ignored by doctors in the past, I believe that women's health and health issues that affect all people assigned female at birth, including topics like menstruation and mood disorders associated with periods, are often considered taboo.

As a disabled woman, I support and stand with all those who are living with rare conditions and want to abolish the stigma associated with them. The needs of patients must be brought into the 21st century.

IAPMD is a leading charity that is working towards this goal by raising awareness and providing support for those with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and (PME) Premenstrual Exacerbation of an underlying disorder. By partnering with IAPMD, I hope to contribute to their vital work, helping to create a more inclusive and informed society.”
