IAPMD is working in conjunction with UK Filmmaker, Amy Greenbank (MetFilm School, London, UK), to assist in creating a short fictional film, β€˜Sabrina’, that tells the story of someone living with PMDD.

The aim of this film is to tell an accessible and compelling story that speaks truth to PMDD, grounded in lived experiences and realities with all the textures and nuances that come with those. It aims to tell this story in a way that will do it justice, capture audiences, and raise important awareness on PMDD too. While recognizing that this film will be from the perspective of one main character, it will strive to explore and lift up PMDD in a way that resonates much more broadly and inclusively.

The main character, Sabrina, is a woman living in North London, struggling with cyclical symptoms and battling with her interpersonal relationships.

Amy Greenbank - Film Maker

Amy Greenbank studies at the MetFilm School in the UK. She is based in London and has a background in film. She went on to retrain and specialize in women's human rights, women's security, and addressing violence against women and girls, which saw her spend the last 13 years working in various humanitarian emergencies internationally with women and girls. Her passion is using film to tell women’s stories with women at the front and center and to do so with women themselves through a collaborative, participatory process from story development through to the final film. She is working on a long-term documentary film project with a group of activists but is currently is focused on "Sabrina". Amy learned about PMDD a few months ago while she was looking into the different usages for the drug Sertraline, and it was through that she discovered PMDD, which set her on a course of research and learning. Inspired by the brave and bold stories she read by women living with PMDD, she wanted to work with women to tell a vital and powerful PMDD story through the fictional, narrative film to reach broad audiences. Connecting with IAPMD was the start of this journey, and the creation of "Sabrina" was made possible in collaboration with patient script advisors and IAPMD.

Patient Script Advisors

In June 2021 we helped recruit UK-based patients who will assist in forming the story and guiding the script as patient advisors.
