PMDD Awareness Month Writing Contest

This April, the International Association for Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD) is proudly sponsoring the first ever “PMDD Writing Contest” giving those whose lives have been touched by reproductive mood disorders a chance to have their stories published for others to read and learn from. We are looking for essays about survival, loss, recovery, or hope that are intimately personal and honest about how PMDD and PME change lives.

The winner’s submission will include a first-hand account of the impact of PMDD or PME on their life in a way that is accessible and understandable to the greater community. We welcome submissions from anyone in our community who has been impacted by one of these illnesses; you don’t need to have an official diagnosis to contribute your story!

The winning submission will additionally be chosen based upon its ability to get people talking about PMDD and PME in new and thoughtful ways that can help us increase awareness for these conditions around the globe.

Submission Criteria

  • Must be 2,000 words or less in length

  • Can be written by a single author or co-authored

  • Stories can be creative with their style of writing;  poetry or prose are both welcomed
