September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD), a day we raise awareness that suicide can be prevented.
Suicide is an important issue in the PMDD/PME community because many people with PMDD or PME experience suicidal thoughts, sometimes on a monthly basis.
In 2018, we surveyed our community:
- 86% said they had considered suicide during their PMDD phase;
- 30% told us they had attempted to end their lives, most before being diagnosed with PMDD and starting treatment.
PMDD/PME awareness and support is suicide prevention!
How to Get Involved
Make a donation. Our goal this year is to raise $3000 for suicide prevention which will help us fund peer support, patient education, and provider outreach. Every person living with PMDD or PME deserves support to survive moments of crisis and care to build a life worth living.
Light a candle at 8pm your time on September 10th to show your support for suicide prevention, remember those who’ve been lost, and honor survivors of suicide.
Share your story on social media about why suicide prevention matters to you. Or share your story to be featured on the blog. Feel free to use one of the images below along with your post.
